Hi
I have just shifted to Ubuntu. I have also searched the entire net and forums for possible solutions but they are not helping
1. I DON'T have a WIRED connection. Only WIFI
2. I have a pretty old laptop. Lenovo B590 (Pentium Dual Core).
3. I have a dual boot setup (Windows 8) and wifi is working fine there so i am pretty sure it is not hardware issue.
In additional drivers settings. I am only seeing.
Broadcom Corporation: BCM43142 802.11b/g/n
"This device is using an alternative driver"
Using Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source from bcmwl-kernel-source (open source)
I have tried following
1. installing fw cutter and broadcom latest package. It did not work
2. also tried acer blacklisting. it did not help as well.
Would be grateful to any guidance.
P.S. I am a novice, so would appreciate a step by step guidance on this. (Legacy windows user)
Regards
