Hello,
Recently I purchased a Seagate 8Tb external hard drive model number STGY8000400. I've been using an WD 3Tb myBook external hard drive connected to the usb 3.0 port of my router -a nighthawk r7000p- for some time and works perfectly. I'm currently using Ubuntu 18.04 lts. The WD drive is formatted to ext4. The router is in AP mode connected to the router provided by my internet provider.
I formatted the SG drive to ext4 and connected it to the usb port of my router. The led of the SG drive turned on and it started working. However, the usb device recognitiion led of the r7000p won't turn on when using ext4 filesystem on the SG drive, and if I check in the router's control panel there won't be any recognized usb storage device. However, if I format the SG drive to ntfs and connect it to the r7000p it's quickly recognized by the router and works like a charm.
I tried some things to make it work with ext4 but I didn't succeed. I like to think that there must be a way to make work she SG drive under ext4 file-system with my router after seeing how it works with ntfs, or, isn't ext4 the best formatting choice for my setup?
Thanks for your help,
