So, this server has a BCM5723 DUAL PORT ethernet adapter, but, only one port has identified by linux.
How can I do to see both ports ?

Missing button for "Connect to Hidden Network..."

This seems like a very stupid question to me, but I have it nonetheless. I'm running Ubuntu 17.10, fully up to date. I've read these instructions:

https://help.ubuntu.com/17.10/ubuntu...ss-hidden.html

However, there's no such button. Is there something I'm missing?

EDIT: Apparently you can't trust gnome-screenshot -w on this particular window. I guess I have a bug to report?

[ubuntu] 18.04 LTS Wireless Card Unclaimed (Intel 7260)

I just upgraded from 16.04 using a minimal install that carried over only my files, and now ubuntu doesn't detect my wireless card.

Results from "sudo lshw -C network" shows that my wireless card is "unclaimed":
*-network UNCLAIMED

capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list
configuration: latency=0
resources: memory:f0400000-f0401fff

Here are the results from the Script:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/dDYHkZsYQZ/

I'm not exactly a Linux whiz so any help with figuring out what could possibly be the problem would be much appreciated. Looking through recent posts in this forum this seems to be a common issue, but i couldn't find any forum posts or answers that fit my situation.

[ubuntu] How do I improve the stability of a Broadcom wireless device?

$

Hi,

Info from the ubuntu (16.04) wireless info script at the bottom...

Basically the same (annoying) problem as it appears quite a lot of people are having with Broadcom devices (I just couldn't find a post specifically covering this particular model) where the signal keeps dropping to zero and then disconnecting at random intervals, sometimes requiring a full reboot before it will reconnect.

It's an Asus Transformer T-100 (on which Ubuntu is not officially supported, but it does work), with a Broadcom BCM43241.

It's using the out of the box 'brcmfmac' driver (with the *sdio.txt file already in place for the *b4* bin file, as per this post). Is there a more up to date one than 6.10.197.71?

Is there a better alternative choice? I notice from this page there are several choices, but they don't list this particular model against them, is the official driver any better?

Regards,
Rob.

(had to substitute square brackets or the forum thought I was playing silly billy)

[ubuntu] Dell Latitude 2110 Broadcom wifi adapter not working with latest kernel for 16.04 LTS

Hi nice people,

I have a Dell Latitude 2110 laptop running Ubuntu 16.04.LTS. I know, it's a Laptopus Dinosaurus, but it is very durable and I like it. I have a dual-boot system with Windows 7, with the laptop loading by default to Ubuntu. The laptop has a Broadcom BCM4313 802.11 bgn wireless network adapter (Inspiron M5010/XPS 8300), which uses proprietary driver Broadcom Linux STA wireless driver source. Once I loaded the proprietary driver after my initial install of 16.04 LTS, all was well with my wifi until a recent kernel upgrade. As of a couple of weeks ago, my wifi and ethernet was no longer recognized with the newest kernel. I am able to go into GRUB and load a previous kernel. 4.13.0-45 generic works fine; I am using it now to write this. Kernel 4.15 that is available on GRUB does not recognize my wifi, and my ethernet is also non-functional with the newer kernels. Windows 7 works fine. Would someone please help with this? Many thanks in advance for your kindness and consideration.

Kind regards,

Sara Ann

[xubuntu] Intel Wireless 8260 connection drops after receiving channel switch event

Hi all,

On a newly installed Xubuntu 18.04, I am able to connect to the internet via wireless adapter. But several times a day I get disconnected and won't be able browse any websites, however the WiFi status still shows as being connected to the AP. I see this type of message in the syslog whenever this happens:

Code:

wpa_supplicant[907]: wlp2s0: CTRL-EVENT-CHANNEL-SWITCH freq=2412 ht_enabled=1 ch_offset=0 ch_width=20 MHz cf1=2412 cf2=0
Reconnecting to the AP doesn't fix the problem, only restarting NetworkManager will fix it.

Wireless info (obtained from after I have restarted NetworkManager): http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/yw75nR3Yqm/

I have searched for wireless channel auto selection problems online without success. The wireless adapter seems to behave normally apart from this problem.
I have no access to the WiFI AP and cannot change it's configuration.
Any feedback or suggestions would be much appreciated,

Thanks in advance.

[SOLVED] wifi not showing after update - Broadcom driver

Hello,

the wifi stopped working after the last update, it doesnt show any wifi that I could connect to.
I tried reinstalling the drivers, but it fails because wl is missing:
modprobe wl
modprobe: FATAL: Module wl not found in directory /lib/modules/4.15.0-24-generic

This is the wireless card version I have:

lspci -nn | grep Network
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Limited BCM43142 802.11b/g/n [14e4:4365] (rev 01)

Thank you for any advice.

[ubuntu] Intel Wireless 7260 randomly dropping connection on ubuntu 18.04

I have got a somewhat strange issue with my wifi connection and I haven't managed to find a solution.

The laptop connects to wifi without issue right after boot. The connection will work fine for a while (30 seconds to a couple of hours) before spontaneously dropping (often when streaming video but not always, sometimes just opening a news site). Switching wifi off and on does not help, nor restarting the network service. The issue persists after logging off and on, leaving the laptop idle for a few hours or hibernating through any length of time. However, the connection always works right after reboot.

Wireless script output: http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/KwGrQCqsv6/

Due to the random occurrence of the issue this is proving tricky to debug. Any ideas?

[ubuntu] Ethernet Connection Not Working On Dual Boot (again)

Hi All,
I'm sorry for bringing up this problem again, but I've tried all the recipes (turned off all the WoL features in Win7, updated the drivers both in Win7 and Ubuntu 16.04, reset the network many times with different configurations, unplugged the cord, etc.) and I'm still unable to solve it.

The original post is here,

https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2297046

although I don't know if finally someone found another way to get the ethernet port working. Everything was perfectly working until a couple of days ago, where for some reason this problem appeared. I wouldn't like to reinstall Ubuntu (I do have many math libraries that I'm not sure if I'll get them again), but if there is no other option, I'll do it. I've tried Ubuntu 'live' (from a DVD) and effectively the network works perfectly, so this make me feel reluctant to start over with a clear slate (might be the solution is around the corner).

Any idea/suggestion will be very welcomed. Thank you very much in advance.

Best,

Marcelo

[server] Cant login to Samba server from Windows 98

Hi!

I have installed an openmediavault server on a old HP Probook 4510s from 2007 with a Celeron 1.66 Ghz CPU and 2 GB of ram with 320 GB WD Black harddrive. So openmediavault offers a whole bunch of p2p communication protocols. And my problem is that i cant use my login credenticals when trying to connect to the Samba Workgroup Client. Instead it prints out
Code:

\\192.168.1.x\IPC$
if i try to connect manually in explorer.

Or if i try to connect through Network Neighborhood it just gives me a message saying that access is denied.

My smb.conf file looks like this:
Code:

[global]

#======================= Share Definitions =======================

Have reading some tutorials on the web and yesterday when i was trying to do this but on my Windows 2000 machine it works when i added this lines:
Code:

lanman auth = Yesntlm auth = Yes
client lanman auth = Yes
client plaintext auth = Yes
client ntlmv2 auth = yes

According to the tutorial (http://www.troubleshooters.com/linux/win9x_samba.htm) this was going to work on 9x too. But it didn't.

So now iam asking here. How can i solve this ? Have i missed a line that i need to add ?

[ubuntu] Ftp for camera

I'm having a totally stupid moment! I have a cheap video cam which will save images to my computer using FTP. Until today it was working just fine ... so I reset the camera. Now, I can get the ftp save stuff to work.

In the camera there is a settings screen which I have filled in as follows:

Server Address: 192.168.1.66
Server Port: 21
User name: ftpuser
Password: secret
Passive mode: On
Path: /home/ftpuser
Auto create dir: On

I press the <test> button, and it fails. Can't establish a ftp connection. I have tried using my host name (Mellowood) and localhost, but no difference.

I've checked the username/password and they certainly seem to be fine. From a terminal I can login as ftpuser.

I can ping 192.168.1.66 as well as mellowood (from the /etc/hosts file).

I have tried different ports including 20 (which my vsftpd.conf file is set to permit) and 10099.

Here is my /etc/vsftpd.conf file:

listen=NO
listen_ipv6=YES
anonymous_enable=NO
local_enable=YES
write_enable=YES
local_umask=022
dirmessage_enable=YES
use_localtime=YES

ssl_enable=NO
pasv_enable=Yes
pasv_min_port=10000

Help ... I'm lost :)

Wireless works, but only very close to the router. The level shows only 40% and it should be close to 100%. Few meters from the router and the connection drops off.
Wit the BT it seems to be working but does not discovers any bt devices even on very close range.
All my other laptops and smartphones work fine with this router.

I tried everything I could on my own but to no avail. Please help.

VirtualBox or network interfaces problem? Can't find a solution.

Hi everyone.

I have installed two systems in VirtualBox one is UbuntuServer 16.04 (planing to use as a host with squid) and a second is Ubuntu 16.04 32-bit (just a client)

InternalNetwork for machines was created with following command:
Code:

vboxmanage dhcpserver add --netname testlab --ip 10.10.0.1 --netmask 255.255.255.0 --lowerip 10.10.10.1 --upperip 10.10.10.100 --enable
UbuntuServer(host) network settings in VirtualBox is:

Ubuntu 16.04(client) VirtualBox network settings:

NetworkInterfaces .conf on UbuntuServer looks like this:

Code:

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto enp0s3                    #Connection to the main internet (host machine of VB)
 iface enp0s3 inet dhcp

auto enp0s8                    # Internal network connection
 iface enp0s8 inet dhcp

And on the client machine everything just stays as it was from default.

Lets get to the squid
main config in http_acces I have added only this:
Code:

http_access allow all
Here is the things that I also added:
Code:

forwarded_for off
request_header_access Allow allow all
request_header_access Authorization allow all
request_header_access WWW-Authenticate allow all
request_header_access Proxy-Authorization allow all
request_header_access Proxy-Authenticate allow all
request_header_access Cache-Control allow all
request_header_access Content-Encoding allow all
request_header_access Content-Length allow all
request_header_access Content-Type allow all
request_header_access Date allow all
request_header_access Expires allow all
request_header_access Host allow all
request_header_access If-Modified-Since allow all
request_header_access Last-Modified allow all
request_header_access Location allow all
request_header_access Pragma allow all
request_header_access Accept allow all
request_header_access Accept-Charset allow all
request_header_access Accept-Encoding allow all
request_header_access Accept-Language allow all
request_header_access Content-Language allow all
request_header_access Mime-Version allow all
request_header_access Retry-After allow all
request_header_access Title allow all
request_header_access Connection allow all
request_header_access Proxy-Connection allow all
request_header_access User-Agent allow all
request_header_access Cookie allow all
request_header_access All deny all

I want to establish a proxy connection for the client machine so the internet see the client with it's IP that was given buy a squid and not the main connection from a provider.

Client machine can ping host but din't get any access to the internet itself.

Here is the input from ifconfig on UbuntuServer(host)

For now I'am stuck please help. I don't ask for a full solution just the direction will be good. Thank you.

My ethernet stopped working as soon as I rebooted after installing the latest updates. I'm running Xubuntu 16.04 and went from kernel 4.4.0-127 to 4.4.0-130. When I boot the older kernel version, it starts working again.

Any ideas of what I can do to diagnose or fix this?

dnsmasq to block internet connected device and redirect to internal IP

$

I have an internet connected device (on 192.168.1.103) which communicates with a webserver (externalwebserver.is).

I want to redirect the device to IP 192.168.1.107 on which I have an nginx server with a flask application.

As the router doesn't let me do the redirection I have tried to implement DNS routing using dnsmasq.

I have added 192.168.1.107 to the DNS section of DHCP settings in the router and set up dnsmasq as per below:

Code:

domain-needed
bogus-priv
no-dhcp-interface=
strict-order
cache-size=1000
localise-queries

server=127.0.0.1
#server=8.8.8.8

address=/externalwebserver.is/192.168.1.107
address=/www.externalwebserver.is/192.168.1.107
listen-address=127.0.0.1
listen-address=192.168.1.107
interface=enp7s0

no-hosts

log-facility=/var/log/dnsmasq.log
log-queries

After implementing the above dnsmasq settings, when I access http://externalwebserver.is I get the flask application's response from 192.168.1.107 which is what i expect. I can also curl GET and PUT to the webserver via http://externalwebsever.is successfully and it hits my flask application as expected. All good so far.

However, the device continues to make it's way through to the actual external webserver - no matter what settings I use in dnsmasq, I cannot successfully block it from accessing the internet.

Any ideas on why this is just not working for me?

[SOLVED] Lost wifi connection: network unclaimed

$

Hello all,

I have a dell xps 13 with ubuntu 16.04. I never had any issue with the wifi, but all of a sudden it does not want to connect anymore. There does not seem to be wifi. When I do `sudo lshw -C network`, I have `network UNCLAIMED` (I put the result of `sudo lshw -C network` at the end of the pastebin). I checked on the forums and saw that I might just need to `apt update`, `apt upgrade`, but I don't have internet access on that computer anymore (when I connect ethernet via a usb-c adapter, it does not seem to find ethernet either). Or maybe the problem is elsewhere.

This is the result of the wireless-info script: https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/2BWvj9y6CQ/

Thank you very much for your help!!
