Bluetooth Problem Asus X550DP

Good day,

I have a small bug or problem that keeps my BT from running normally after a reboot or when I turn BT off then back on. I've used this post https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2399393 to get the BT working but I have to re run the following code after a reboot to get it working again? Is there a way to keep it working or do I just have to deal with it?
Code:

sudo modprobe -v rtbth
Thanks,

Hey, all!

Registered here to report exactly the same issue - under Lubuntu.

Found another, similar thread over here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1104...ating-to-18-04

Like the poster in the other thread, I use a Qualcomm Atheros wifi adapter. Maybe a problem related to the driver?

Thank you! :)

[ubuntu] Cannot login to SSH Ubuntu 18.04

Hello, I'm trying to login via SSH to my website on Bluehost. The site is already configured and works for SSH as I have already done a database backup prior to switching back to Ubuntu from Windows 10. I need to backup a particular database using SSH. Every time I try to login I get an "Access Denied" error.

I've tried the following:

1. Tried logging in using Putty. When I first installed Ubuntu I knew I would have to access my MySQL on Bluehost via SSH, so I installed it.
2. Tried logging in using "OpenSSH" after giving up on putty and installing it.
3. Tried editing "/etc/ssh/sshd_config" to allow port 22 & set "AllowUsers" to the user login for my Bluehost server. I also enabled "PubkeyAuthentication yes".

No matter what I've done I still get access denied. The password that I'm using is correct when I type it in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need this in order to work with client websites.

Hi to everybody,

I managed to resolve my problem of connecting to the internet with Wifi , now unfortunately the laptop freezes completely in the instant when it uses internet connected to wifi (now for example I'm using the tethering from the phone and it works fine, even though the wifi is on but not connected to my WLAN).
If I run `dmesg` this parts of text come with errors and red highlighted:

Hi,

I just installed Ubuntu 18.04. It doesn't detect my WiFi adapter (Intel CNVI 9560).

This problem doesn't happen in Win10. Any ideas?

I ran dmesg | grep iwl

[ubuntu] Atheros AR3011 bluetooth doesn't work on Ubuntu 18.04

I have a desktop PC with "IMC Networks Asus Integrated Bluetooth module [AR3011]" device which doesn't seem to work.
I found a report dated by 2011 saying this thing worked before (2.6.x kernels) https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugr...cgi?bug=641749 - which is pretty close to my own... feeling that yeah, it did work before (the same PC).
I'm too lazy to fix problems as soon as the appear, so I've been postponing the resolution of this problem for several years.
Today I told myself that it really needs my attention.
So folks, any ideas where to look at?

Code:

$ lsusb | grep -i bluetooth

[ubuntu] TL-WN881ND Wi-Fi hotspot: low download speed

Hi! I have Ubuntu 18.04 PC with wired internet connection (~90 Mbits/s) and PCI-E Wi-Fi TP-Link TL-WN881ND (EU) Ver.2.0 card, working in Wi-Fi hotspot mode.
My Ubuntu OS recognized it automatically upon installation, but when I connect my Mint laptop (or Android smartphone) to it, the download speed is very low: about 600 - 800 Kbits/s (tested via Iperf). In the meantime, upload speed is much greater: ~6 Mbits/sec.
I've done some searching around, turned off the power saving feature, switched antennas using ant-sel flag, but nothing helped.
I've also downloaded and installed driver from the official manufacturer's site, but it didn't help me either.
Will appreciate any advice.

I followed the advice from https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/...s/ath9k/btcoex
I tried to add in /etc/modprobe/ a conf file as ath9k.conf with the btcoex_enable=1 and reboot but this did not fix my issue.
I also tried :
Quote:

btcoex_enable=1
bt_ant_diversity=1
and
Quote:

btcoex_enable=1
bt_ant_diversity=1
nohwcrypt=1
I also try to blacklist asus_nd_wmi, without any success.

Do you have an idea to solve my problem?

Thank you very much.

[ubuntu] 10 GBs Network | incrementing rx_csum_offload_errors via ethtool

I have just changed to a 10GB switch in my LAN - all our servers are now communicating well (at first glance):

:~$ ethtool ens4
Settings for ens4:
Supported ports: [ TP ]
Supported link modes: 1000baseT/Full
10000baseT/Full
Supported pause frame use: No
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
Advertised link modes: 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Full
10000baseT/Full
Advertised pause frame use: No
Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
Speed: 10000Mb/s
Duplex: Full
Port: Twisted Pair
PHYAD: 0
Transceiver: external
Auto-negotiation: on
MDI-X: Unknown
Cannot get wake-on-lan settings: Operation not permitted
Current message level: 0x00000007 (7)
drv probe link
Link detected: yes

Moreover, doing an iperf test to any internal server does show this:

[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 10.9 GBytes 9.32 Gbits/sec

Upon deeper inspection, I can see that errors on the NICs are incrementing

~$ ethtool -S ens4 | grep error
rx_errors: 0
tx_errors: 0
rx_over_errors: 0
rx_crc_errors: 0
rx_frame_errors: 0
rx_fifo_errors: 0
rx_missed_errors: 0
tx_aborted_errors: 0
tx_carrier_errors: 0
tx_fifo_errors: 0
tx_heartbeat_errors: 0
rx_long_length_errors: 0
rx_short_length_errors: 0
rx_csum_offload_errors: 2352

At first, I thought it was an issue with the ring settings, go I pushed it to the max:

~$ ethtool -g ens4
Ring parameters for ens4:
Pre-set maximums:
RX: 4096
RX Mini: 0
RX Jumbo: 0
TX: 4096
Current hardware settings:
RX: 4096
RX Mini: 0
RX Jumbo: 0
TX: 4096

I am now stuck -- after doing some research, I understand that enabling flow control and jumbo packets can help in these cases.
As this is a production environment, I would like your advice on this issue.

[server] iptables and DNS: incoming traffic with destination port 53

$

Hi all

I'm currently setting up iptables rules on my web server. Almost everything works as I expect it to work, but for the rules applied to DN lookup queries.
Here is my understanding:
  • DN lookup requests are sent to the port 53 of DN servers (by default)
  • DN lookup requests can happen over both TCP and UDP protocols

Therefore, I set up the following rules:
Code:

iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --sport 53 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p udp --sport 53 -j ACCEPT

In other words, accept any incoming connections coming from the port 53 (supposing they are responses for the DN queries my server will send to the port 53).
However, this doesn't work. A nslookup ubuntuforums.org command times out. And here is the part I'm not getting: if I add the iptables rules below, then it works
Code:

iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT

If I'm reading the above correctly, it means that I'm accepting incoming connections sent to the port 53 of my server. And I don't understand why this is needed.
I used tcpdump to see what is going on when I run nslookup ubuntuforums.org and I can't see any connections sent to the port 53 of my machine.
There is obviously something I'm missing but I don't know what... Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance.

[ubuntu] Diagnose WiFi Dropping out in Ubuntu but not in Windows-10?

$

Ever since I started using my "new" PC with Ubuntu 14.10 on my main partition in 2014 with "Think Penguin" TPE-N150USBL dongle, I have had occasional instances of WiFi dropping out.

Currently, with 18.04, WiFi drops out several times per day.
Sometimes, the WiFi indicator on the top panel switches to a "?" & sometimes not.
It can also show "?" when WiFi seems to be working OK.
It never shows the "Empty triangle" sign for no WiFi.
I can always reconnect immediately by clicking > Indicator > my router > Turn Off > Panel > WiFi Off > Turn On.

Other PC's & phones use the same router with absolutely no problem.

On my same PC with same "Think Penguin" WiFi dongle, my Ubuntu LTS (currently 16.04) partition has never shown any problem (but is used less frequently & less long, so maybe proves nothing?).
On same PC & dongle, Windows 10 also has never shown any problem (used infrequently but for long sessions).

So I think I am looking for a problem internal to my main Ubuntu partition, rather than router or dongle?

Over the years, I have often tried to follow troubleshooting guides but never got anywhere.

Can anybody help by pointing to a suitable procedure, or by suggesting steps to start diagnosis?

I just installed "pastebinit" & generated a wireless-info.txt file (while WiFi was working OK) & hopefully attached it...
Should I run wireless-info script again when WiFi is down?

Thanks for any suggestions to help somebody who really has no idea about WiFi!

Thanks!

Hello Community!

I've installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS after than using Ubuntu 16.04. Nontheless, I had a wired connection error three days ago and I've not been able to fix it. My latptop is ASUS x441U, 7.7 GiB ram, Intel Core i5-7200U COU @ 2.50GHz x4 and 64 bits.

Problem: Wired connection fails. It appears connected, but not working. This problem appeared three days ago, after than an updating. Fortunately, my Wifi is working. Here I'll post some additional information:

[kubuntu] Kubuntu 18.10: Internet not working after Update and Reboot

$

Hello all,
I've recently installed Kubuntu 18.10 on my HP Laptop.

This particular HP Laptop (which is temporary for now) uses the Realtek RTL8723DE, which doesn't have official support yet out of the box - so after I installed, I had to compile an open-source third party driver (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebo...r/td-p/6477307) to get it to work - after manually downloading from Ubuntu Packages gcc and make, as well as all of the necessary dependencies and moving the packages from my Windows HD to my Linux HD (which was a pain), I logged out, logged back in, and was able to connect to my WiFi no problem.

I decided to install some software and update my system, and now, Wi-Fi seems to be broken, as when I access my computer, my computer doesn't detect any networks and acts as if there was no driver on the computer.

I've tried various commands based on older forum posts to restart the networking service, but the various commands can't find a networking service, and I've tried uninstalling via "sudo make uninstall" and reinstalling, but to no avail, still not working. I've even restarted and went on Windows to see if it's a problem with the hardware which could have died, but Windows is working normally, so there's something wrong on Kubuntu.

Any suggestions or ideas to try would be useful.

Thanks.

Hi,
I recently installed ubuntu 18.04 on my HP 15 laptop PC (on a partioned hard disk) on which I already had installed Win 10 (as Multi-Boot System).
Now, in ubuntu 18.04 my WiFi does not work, it is switched off. In the settings-menu for the WiFi tab, I get "No WiFi Adapter Found", and I get "Airplane Mode On", and where I get the WiFi icon, I have WiFi Off.
but the WiFi works just fine under Win 10.

Please can anyone help me on how to switch on the WiFi wireless

I have
created a detailed report for troubleshooting wireless problems using the wireless info script created by @varunendra and co, and the link to it on pastebin is https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/MJpxSRwqh9/

Thanks in advance for the help

Hi Guys, I have LAN connection and and cellphone with LTE (connected to USB). I decided to bond two of them into one to get faster internet. Unfortunately it doesn't use two connections at the same time. Everything seems to be fine, both are connected. After reboot computer decides to use the first of connection or second and never both at the same time. When it uses connection 1 and the cable is removed it never switches to connection 2 the same happens in the opposite situation. I included screenshots of.
- bond connection

I am waiting for your advice
