16.04 won't connect to wifi

I recently installed 16.04 on a Dell Latitude D-620, but it won't connect, and Settings / Network doesn't show any wifi. It just shows ‘wired’ and ‘Network proxy’. If I put my Windows 7 drive in this laptop, wifi works fine. Another post suggested starting and stopping Network Manager, which I did, but that didn't help.

I actually installed this 16.04 on another same model laptop, that might have a different network adapter. Could that be the problem? Any other ideas? Thank you much.

Networking Issue post Virtualbox and Samba install

Hi - I have a pretty clean install of 16.04 - only installed virtualbox since I set up the system. Earlier today I tried to get the Windows 10 machine to bridge to the Ubuntu 16.04 network adapter and I'm sure I've screwed something up. after installing Samba to try to get the Win 10 machine running in VB to be seen by the windows network that this Ubuntu system is connected to (physically).

I can't connect to the network now. It's like the eno1 connection is still stuck in some kind of mode that won't let it get an ip address.
I've tried stopping and starting the network service. as well as nano editing the /etc/network/interfaces file to:

auto eno1
iface eno1 inet dhcp

The system refuses to grab an ip address from the router.

ifconfig - a is returning lo info, eno1 info (no ip address assigned). as well as eno1:avahi (indicating a failed attempt to get an ip address).

desperate for any help. At this stage I'm not even dealing with the virtualbox connectivity. just native Ubuntu OS on the system itself.

HP wifi issues in UBUNTU 16.04

I have tried a lot of solutions but nothing helps. I have a RTL8723BE card, although it connects(sometimes) the network is so slow that it's literally *not connected*.
The recent fix i followed this link: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2206487&page=2

I downloaded the latest version and tried out.. It showed the following error:

I've newly installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on a desktop. Wi-fi didn't turn on, wi-fi is through a usb D-Link DWA 171.

From reading these forums I surmised it was driver problems. I followed the instructions provided in this post about the same issue

Since I couldn't connect to the internet I downloaded the git onto a usb then copied it to the desktop, navigated to the directory and ran the rest of the steps from there.

When I try to make the file I get a bunch of errors. They all seem to stem from the error below. I'm brand new to linux, any help in resolving this error would be greatly appreciated.

[lubuntu] Wifi Not getting connected with NC110 Samsung Netbook Lubuntu

Hi ,

My wifi connection fails to connect on my Netbook NC110 in Lubuntu whereas same works fine from windows. I have also tried enabling retricted drivers from synaptic but still fails to get connected.

Currently I am connected via Wired. lubuntu 17.04

Hey there,

I have tried many of the posts here to increase upload speed but none of them seem to work
I used a script in one of the post to generate the necessary info regarding this kind of problem
When I try uploading in telegram it take toooo long! A file that takes 3 seconds on my phone(on the same wifi network) takes 3-5 min to upload

Multiple instances of stunnel and apache

I am having trouble sending email from a Beagle Bone running Ubuntu 14.04. It was working but has lately been only working occasionally. A script I have quit sending out status emails and I am trying to figure out why. I shut down and restarted and it worked for two emails and then quit. Looking at the running processes with
ps aux
I see 6 instances of stunnel and 6 of apache which does not see right. This is the output:

[ubuntu] loosing DNS

Hi,

I have 16.04 installed on a Dell Precision 340 (i686). The problems is that DNS stops working after a while. It's OK right after I boot, but after some time it cannot access a node by its name. On the other hand, if I enter an IP then I can ping or log on.

I know this subject has been discussed but not really about my situation.

I have Ubuntu 16.04 up to date on a desktop wired connection to a Aztech5001_F9A7D router. ADSL STATIC IP connection. Globe ISP

My Laptop is Windows 7

I can connect from laptop to pc using Putty.
I can connect to pc from cell phone using JuiceSSH

But for the life of me, i cant figure out how to properly setup the port forwarding so i can connect to pc/laptop from outside my network.
everything i have tried has failed.

Needing to resolve DNS without useing a separate DNS server

Hello,

Our maintenance department uses some software to monitor various maintenance functions. The software will only send alerts via email so I set up a Ubuntu Server with iRedMail on it. It is on a private network with no access to the internet. I have no problems sending and receiving emails in my test environment because I use the server's IP address. However, the software wants to use DNS (sending it's email alerts to the alerts@maintenance.com email address I set up). In iRedmail I set up the virtual domain as maintenance.com but I have no DNS server on the private network to resolve this and we don't want to put a separate DNS server on the maintenance network. Is there anyway to configure my Ubuntu server so that when one of the maintenance computers sends out an alert to the alerts@maintenance.com email address the mail server will actually receive it (if there is an article you can provide a link to that would be helpful as I will need a step by step approach to set it up if it's do-able)

I hope this makes some sense. Thank you for your assistance.

Bluetooth temporarily connects before org.bluez.Error.NotAvailable

I have been trying to connect my laptop with Ubuntu 17.04 to a raspberry pi with Debian. It pairs with the pi, however when I connect it, it immediately gives the error org.bluez.Error.NotAvailable, and then loses connection within seconds. The code that I have used is below.

17.04 wifi connects to network but system does not

Hello... Been a while. Figured I'd try the new 17.04... So the network manager connects to modem/network, however, the system doesn't recognize the fact that it's connected.?!?
Network icon shows it's connected, but clock shows wrong time and FF reports "Server not found"...
I've tried the fix of adding no random mac address in NetworkManager.conf to no effect...
Any suggestions? Thanks

It's a fresh clean install on a thinkpad X61... Usually runs everything flawlessly...

Just plugged in with cat45 cable and icon shows network connection but system is blind to it...

Can't say I've ever known ubuntu not to work with a wired connection...

No Wifi even with bcmwl-kernal-source

Ok so i have bcmwl-kernel-source and when i first installed it it worked but after a restart it still has the connection in network connections but it wont connect without a cable
and i know theres a lot of these but Ive tried and nothing has worked.
also i'm running Linux mint 18.1 cinnamon i know there not the same but there very similar kernel wise

I've installed the release Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on my Acer Expensa 5620Z and it seems that OS doesn't retrieve any kind of information about the wireless card.
