rtl8812AU Make compile is failing after upgrade to Custom Kernel
I have installed 16.0.4 version, after that followed instruction here to install Wireless drivers

$ git clone https://github.com/diederikdehaas/rtl8812AU

$ sudo make install
$ sudo modprobe 8812au

Till this point it was successful and wireless worked fine

Now I have installed eve-ng on top of Ubuntu after that I am unable to install back the drivers
Eve-ng installed a custom kernel

Hi guys,

So, after the installation of Ubuntu 14.04.5, my wireless device doesn't working even with ethernet cable. I need your help !

My config :
Intel Core i5-7300HQ CPU 2.50 GHz
GTX 1050 TI 2go

[ubuntu] Installed Ubuntu 16.04.3 on a laptop, cannot connect to internet via Arris Surfboard

$

I am new to linux and decided to try it out last night, I have no prior experience dealing with networks or resolving issues related to the internet. I installed Ubuntu 16.04.3 last night and it would not connect to the internet after I got it fully installed from a flash drive, this issue has not been resolved after turning the Arris Surfboard SBG6580 modem/router combination off and back on again as well as the laptop, which is a HP m6 notebook, being restarted since last night.

It will not connect over Wifi or either of my Ethernet cables, both of which work just fine to connect my windows 10 laptop to the internet. The Ubuntu laptop is just constantly having 'waves' go up its wifi/internet icon in the top-right. Upon finding the forums I saw the 'Before posting Networking and Wireless' thread and followed its instructions but when I ran the script it only gave me this,
Code:

####### wireless info START #########
Which pretty much tells me nothing and I don't imagine it tells anyone else anything either, but I wanted to complete this step in case anyone can get insight from it or knows what I might have done wrong. The laptop is currently connected to the modem/router via my Ethernet cable and it still has not connected to the internet.

The modem/router has given me plenty of issues before. Recently after start up my windows laptop it connected to the router but not to the internet. Using windows built in trouble shooter this was quickly resolved as the IP address not being configured correctly. The laptop I installed Ubuntu on previously had windows 8 and gave me no end of trouble, it also would not connect to my home wifi either but it would connect to other peoples wifi if I brought it to their house. Windows 8's own troubleshooter however could not solve the problem and I never attempted to fix it as I already had a laptop with windows 10 on that did everything I needed.

Please help I would like to try out Linux/Ubuntu but after spending most of last night trying to solve the problem on my own through google, I am left clueless.
Note: I have no issue formatting the problem laptop and reinstalling everything if you think that will help and I regard this entire thing as a learning experience.

I'm running Ubuntu Desktop 16.04. I'm running a Plex server on it. My wired connection stops working after 24hrs and I must reboot the modem/router and computer to get it to work again. I've installed a new network card thinking that might solve it but getting the same issue with the new card. I've attached 2 image of my screen. It was just easier. i ran ifconfig and lshw. Any help would be great. thanks.

[ubuntu] 17.04 Cannot access smb1 share

I have just replaced Windows 10 on my laptop with 17.04 and everything is running fine except for one problem:

I have two external drives connected to my Asus router and shared using SMB1. These shares are protected with a username and password. I had no problem accessing them from Windows 10, although after the recent WannaCry hooha I had to explicitly enable SMB1 in Windows to access them.

When I try to access the shares from the Files app, I can see the shares double-clicking on them brings up the username/workgroup/password entry box. Entering the correct user credentials however just causes the box to reappear without an error message. If I go to my router and enable guest access (that is, no username/password protection) then I can access the shares without difficulty.

(As an aside, I don't seem to have a smb.conf file on my machine. I have samba installed but Locate can't find one. I don't know if this is relevant or not but I find it a little curious!)

[ubuntu] Ubuntu 16.04: Laptop Bluetooth laggy/erroneous compared to Windows 10

Hi all

I am running Ubuntu on my laptop as a separate partition from Windows. I just got the new Logitech MX Ergo mouse which uses Bluetooth. I noticed that the mouse pointer is "sometimes" laggy, even though the mouse is right next to the laptop! When I boot into Windows, the mouse works perfectly smoothly, so it must be a software or driver issue and not an interference or other physical problem.

By "sometimes laggy", I mean that it works fine for a minute, then it is choppy for a few minutes, fine for a minute again, then choppy, etc.

I had previously noticed that bluetooth reception on this laptop under Ubuntu is rather weak, when I was testing a Bluetooth gamepad. It is a Gigabyte Aero 14 laptop (GTX 1060 version).

What I tried so far to solve the problem, without success:
- Try the solution posted here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/6635...s-time-by-time, including the "sudo modprobe btusb" commands.
- top / htop show no suspicious CPU activity when the Bluetooth mouse is active.

Any ideas how to fix? Are there some drivers I could try updating?

Best regards
ibd

I have to use a VPN where I'm at, but only for traffic that is on the standard :80 port.
Is there a way to setup my system to route all network traffic normally through my interface, but route all :80 traffice to my ppp0 device?
Seems like this should be simple.

Hello, I did my best to find the solution to this problem but I am out of it.

The fresh install mimics the behavior of the last install in that it connects to wireless, but yields no internet at home.

It seems to work at school, but that's it.

Ethernet works great.

My output is attached for network info, if you have a moment.

[ubuntu] Imposible to install mt7610u driver for usb wifi dongle

I followed this guide https://askubuntu.com/questions/6741...ralink-mt7610u

It doesnt work, the computer doesnt have internet wired access, so i downloaded everything (packages and dependencies) in other computer, copied everything and tried, the error begins with IEEE80211 NUM_BANDS, in make stage, it says that if I meant "NUM_TIDS" because it cant find that num_bands thing, in make install the error is related to a file called mt7610u_sta.ko, it cant find.

Is there any other method for ubuntu 17.10 beta 2?, I havent found a fix for the previous tutorial, in all places its the same, and its supposed to work, or was supposed... I will look to take out the output correctly, like I said, the computer cant connect to internet without the device working.

I googled like hell, can anyone help me? (the device is the one of the tutorial, Ive done lsusb, its detected with same id, but doesnt work.

Thanks.

[ubuntu_mate] Help needed seting up IP camera

$

Hello all,
I have tried all weekend, and not succeeded to create a network I want to set up. It is time to ask for help.
I have an IP camera, that I want to have a static address, on a local IP. 10.0.0.15 for example.
I have a wifi connection that I want to still be able to connect to my home wifi with. The computer has an ethernet port, and a wifi device.

at one point I was able to have one or the other, but not both running at the same time. But I screwed it up real bad, and had to delete everything.

So I have been looking at /etc/network/interfaces, and /etc/dhcp/dhcp.conf, and /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server
At this point I am so confused about what to do. I deleted everything, and now i can connect to my home wifi.
The ip camera is physically attached, but no longer picks up an address from the server.

I am only trying to set up IPV4 addressing on the local network.

cat /etc/defualt/isc-dhcp-server
INTERFACESv4="eth0"

/etc/network/interfaces reads:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
auto wlan0

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 10.0.0.42
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 10.0.0.0
broadcast 10.0.0.255
gateway 10.0.0.1
dns-nameservers 10.0.0.1

/etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf reads:
authoritative;

subnet 10.0.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
range 10.0.0.1 192.168.0.254;
option broadcast-address 192.168.0.255;
option routers 192.168.0.1;
default-lease-time 600;
max-lease-time 7200;
option domain-name "local-network";
option domain-name-servers 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4;
}

host camera {
hardware-address C4:D6:55:3E:43:72;
fixed-address 10.0.0.15;
}

Perhaps Im missing something silly, I've been trying and not getting it. I just want the local address to run and assign the IP cammera a fixxed static IP, and still be able to connect to the internet on my
home network at the same time. What am I doing wrong here?

I have Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed on Asus GL502VMK and regularly working.
this morning my bluetooth Logitech mouse does not connect anymore; it was working until yesterday.
I've initially tried to pair it again with PC but with no success.
It looks like bluetooth it is not anymore available on my PC.
Digging for a reason I've goggled around and found this command:

[UbuntuGnome] Realtek rtl8821ae Slow WIFI Transfer

Dear Ubuntu community,
Happy new Ubuntu user here (almost :P).

I finally decided to use Ubuntu for my PC but I'm facing some problems with my WIFI card. I spend more than a week searching for a solution, but I think is time to ask for help!

First, I want to mention that I have a 160 Mbit/s (DOWN) and 10 Mbit/s (UP) internet connection managed by a TP-LINK WDR4300 with DD-WRT.

Days ago, before I switch from WIN10 to Ubuntu, in the same machine I score 120 to 130 Mbit/s (DOWN) and 10 Mbit/s (UP) using speedtest.net, but now in Ubuntu, well, see below:
Code:

michael@force:~$ speedtestRetrieving speedtest.net configuration...
Testing from VTR (xxx.xx.xx.xxx)...
Retrieving speedtest.net server list...
Selecting best server based on ping...
Hosted by Entel (Santiago) [12.59 km]: 17.495 ms
Testing download speed................................................................................
Download: 47.02 Mbit/s
Testing upload speed....................................................................................................
Upload: 4.85 Mbit/s
michael@force:~$

As you can see, this speed is really low, and also is the MAX transfer rate I'm getting in the LAN.

The DD-WRT stats display a really low RX Rate (6M), in WIN (270+):
Code:

xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx    ath1    0:43:48    270M    6M    HT40SGI    -34    -90    56    100%
I have to set some options in "/etc/modprobe.d/rtl8821ae.conf" in order to fix the disconnect issue and also installed the "rtlwifi_new" driver pack from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new.git, and now I can say that I have a relative stable WIFI but very slow. Please note, with the rtl8821ae.conf param the disconnect issue was fixed in the stock driver and later in the rtlwifi_new driver, but the transfer speed is the same in both drivers.

Here you have the results of the wireless-info script.

Code:

[xubuntu] some websites not accessible

Hello

Since yesterday (maybe longer) I can 't access the website www.raspberrypi.org anymore. Other websites are no problem. I can access the site on my phone though. Only on my tree xubuntu 17.04 devices, I get the error message:

www.raspberrypi.org’s server DNS address could not be found.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

It 's not accessible in firefox nor in chromium. I also can 't ping the site.

Could someone please give me a hint on this. I've been searching the net and tried some things but nothing helped. Thanks a lot!

[ubuntu] Selcting BAD Gateways - ICMP Redirect

$

Hi All,
I have a Server with " Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS " and it's connected as follows.

Server -----> SWITCH -------> R1
| |------> R2
|---------> R3

Switch and Router interfaces are in the same subnet ( 192.168.0.0/24 ). Server Gateway set R1 ( 192.168.0.1 ).

Issue :-
* For some destinations it tries to take other gateways ( like R2 & R3 )

Things Done :-
* Created a specific route towards the destination. It works for nearly one hour and normalized back to take other IPs as gateways.
* Restart the NEtwork interface , same as above work for hour or two.

Findings :-
By doing few digging I found out that this happened due to " ICMP Redirect ". So I edited the sysctl file and disabled ICMP redirects.

But Still am getting this issue. Appreciate If some one can guide me regarding this .....

LACP on ubuntu 17 not working

Hello, I've been having issues trying to set up LACP on my ubuntu 17 machine. I've added the bonding to the modules file as well done modprobe bonding. Below is my current interface file set up.

#nic 1
auto enp5s0f0
iface enp5s0f0 inet manual

#nic 2
auto enp5s0f1
iface enp5s0f1 inet manual

#bond
auto bond0
iface bond0 inet static
address x.x.x.x
netmask x.x.x.x
gateway x.x.x.x
slaves enp5s0f0 enp5s0f1

Ive tried to comment out the nic lines like some tutorials show with no luck. When I do an ifcong, it does show bond0 being there with no IP address. I have a Norte switch that has already been configured for LACP as I am switching from free NAS to a custom set up using ubuntu. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've tried multiple tutorials with each one being different and no luck.

I have a PPPOE connection, through router. I tried wireless and with cable also, but it doesn't work. This happened all of a sudden. It is exactly like it is disabled from somewhere, it doesn't show any available networks. I ran some commands through terminal, I will post here the outcomes, maybe it will help.
